Beat.

I just completed the story mode of mirrors edge and that's all I will play of it.
But that's not a bad thing at all, as I thoroughly enjoyed this game and all the innovative ideas it put to great use. The first person camera is what makes this game an "immersive" (OMG BAD REVIEWER TERMINOLOGY) experience you can't get anywhere else. Jumping from building tops at full speed really is great fun, and the game doesn't overstay its welcome with the perfect length of about 6-8 hours depending of your skill.

Mirror's edge has been labeled as frustrative trial and error by many game journalists, but I really don't see the frustration. Platforming sections are concentrated and checkpoints are plentiful, so if you mess up, you can say " Oh crap I did something wrong! Let me not do that again while having fun traversing the cityscape while escaping these political soldiers carrying large weaponry!".

Combat is also very fun, with a large array of melee attacks that animate well and do a maginifcent job at kicking ass. Yes the gunplay is somewhat lacking, but it plays with the storyline of " You are a Courier, not masterchief".

When you are done the single player, you can complete time trials in levels you have already played to accomplish acchievements or trophys depending on your platform, and compare with other xbox lives/ PSN users.

Its a buy if you can get mileage from the time trials, or a definite rent if the story mode is all you are interested in. Just play this game.
